Laura Depooter asked me a follow-up question to “Find Happiness” – “If minimum age is raised to $15 won’t that raise the cost of everything else?” That is a deep topic and really I wanted to discuss the differences between minimum wage and a living wage. I go back to why minimums were instituted and what it means to live today. Stories are shared about where I started from and how money doesn’t necessarily beat out good treatment. Just like more money never equates to a better job or better service.
To be honest, I need to write these notes right after the show because I remember the details much better, plus right now my brain is tired and I am not getting much done. Listen to the show knowing that I share some great stories, will make you laugh more than once, and I will give you something to truly think about and discuss with others.
How and what we earn is so ingrained into us as an American society, and perhaps throughout the world. Employers tend to tie ownership and debt to the fact that they have to pay someone. And employees seem to tie customer service and self-worth to how much they are paid. “You’re lucky to have a job” is the mirror phrase to “I don’t get paid enough for this shit.”
Changing the conversation
When we as a whole realize what value for value means and we give in an honest exchange, then we change how everything is done. Come along for the ride that is my life and my stories that cover “Minimum Wage vs Living Wage.”
This show is all about my stories but it is really about the shared human experience. Therefore the best way to share is to have you participate so I need more questions from you! Email me RGOP@charlesmcfall.com and hit me with your best shot – maybe you will get brand new stories out of me and bring some new adventures to the world.
